About
Dylin Danielson is a musician, recording engineer, and producer of Norwegian/Swedish descent hailing from southern Minnesota. He releases music primarily under the alias DYL, with other projects in development. He started his path by making ambient music while going to college (where he obtained a degree for Music Creative Technologies). During this period he realized needed a team to collaborate with to help bring his true musical ambitions to life. He found that team at Carpet Booth Studios in Rochester, MN headed by multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, engineer, and studio owner Zach Zurn.
After a long hiatus, in late 2022 he released his first full-length LP with "A Requiem for the Future." The album caught listeners up to speed, with DYL telling his story as if to friends around a campfire. A diverse blend of genres, detailed soundscapes and textures, beautiful instrumentation, vulnerable surrealist lyricism, and compelling vocal performances on the LP showcased his unique artistic voice. With influences in film score, indie-rock, ambient, industrial metal, and indie-folk to name a few - you never know what to expect with his music.
DYL loves the studio experience over all else and considers himself an "album artist" that finds meaning in creating with a larger story-driven focus in mind. As of June 2023, he is working on his second album - with a few surprises planned on the long road to its completion. After his song Gimlé received a 10/10 from music reviewer & content creator BradTasteInMusic and his reaction became its own video - a world of opportunities opened up that have helped enable him to pursue his vision for that second album.
Through the BTIM video, DYL was discovered by Brian “Nox” Eisner - a multi-platinum producer and engineer from New Hampshire. Since that video, DYL has been in constant contact and collaboration with Nox and his right-hand man and fellow producer Kyle C-E.
He now finds himself between Minnesota and New Hampshire regularly for music.
With his original album one team (Zach Zurn, Ryan Howe, Charlie Burket, Cameron Bartlett, and fellow HIGHSAILS member This Is Sky) - and with new additions of Saudade, Brian and Kyle, David Grubb (string player for Novo Amor, Lowswimmer, etc.), and Victor Sillue (3D surrealism artist) and others - there is nothing he can’t imagine and accomplish.
With new eyes on his music, a passionate fanbase, an ever-evolving taste palette and boundless ambition… DYL will undoubtedly be an artist to watch for years to come.
His sophomore album,
On The Verge Of An Entirely New World
is coming when it’s ready.
